You are bidding on the fourth (1928) edition of the Road and Street Catalog and Data Book, published by the Gillette Publishing Company.  This book contains a Data Section which, "has been revised and enlarged by Mr. Halbert P. Gillette and gives the equivalent of a 500-page handbook of road and street data.  The various specifications also have been brought up to date and data on a number of new subjects have been added.  The Data Section together with the Geographical Index of dealers and distributors together with the manufacturers' Catalog Data make this edition a very complete and practical reference book.  The demand for copies of this book has been so great that the 1928 edition will be distributed to 20,000."This 352 page book, measuring approximately 8" by 10-3/4", is in good condition for its age.   The dark blue hardcover has faded gilt lettering on the cover and spine.  The cover shows some wear, marks and scuffs (see picture).  The cover is beginning to come loose from the binding.  The interior pages, with the exception of the last page, are secure in their binding.  The interior pages show some age yellowing and some ink marks.  There is no moisture damage to the interior pages.  This book, in my opinion, rates an excellent reading copy.This is a unique book on the early twentieth century road building industry.  This book is an index to dealers and products with numerous black and white illustrations and photos of products and road machinery.   Included, among others, are graders, crushers, cranes, Model-T dump trucks, switch engines, drag lines, scrapers, rollers, plows, hoppers, asphalt heaters, guardrail, fence, wire, and culverts. The Dealers and Distributors in this book include, among others: Lufkin, Dietzgen, Butler Bin Company (Bins & Measuring Hoppers), Erie Steel Construction Co.
